Looking Ahead to Children's Book Week

Did you know that May 2-8 is Children's Book Week 2011?  The idea that children's books can change lives has been officially celebrated since 1919!  I've been missing out all these years, since I just learned about it today in blog post from School Library Journal.

This seems like a great ready-made program for any library.  For inspiration, visit the website for a bunch of ideas for celebrating Children's Book Week.  Plus, between March 14 and April 29, you can encourage kids to go to the website
and vote for their selections for the Children’s Book Choice Awards.  There is also a children's book writing contest.  Plus you can get free copies of the poster!  All in all, it sounds like a great celebration to me.
