2011 Pirates Tales

This year the Pirates are generously giving six lucky children from each participating library the opportunity for two tickets to the September 11 baseball game (one for them and one for a parent or guardian) and a special story time with a Pirates’ player and the Pirate Parrot at PNC Park that same day.  (Please note:   this is separate from the two tickets promised to each location for summer reading incentives.  Each county library, regardless of their participation in Pirates Tales, will still receive two tickets.) The children also receive a food voucher and goodie bag with books and Pirates merchandise.

A brief summary about the program:  From the start of summer reading until August 5, 2011, children between the ages of 6-12 can sign up for Pirates Tales by reading as many books as they want.  After finishing a book the children will complete and return an entry form to their librarian.  Participation forms will be available at any participating library (and we are working on an online component).  After the program closes each participating library will send me their entries by August 12, and indicate which six children have won.  We forward everything to the Pirates so they can send out the invitations.

If your library is interested, sign up here on the Youth Services wiki by the deadline of April 1st.
