Look to the Web

Although I know that there are a lot of mixed feelings about the increase in demand for computers in public libraries, I am of the opinion that libraries are poised to provide some really unique services as information technologies move more towards the center of our lives.  Because future generations will increasingly rely on the World Wide Web to satisfy their informational need, librarians, skilled in the art of information retrieval, can significantly improve people's ability to navigate an increasingly cluttered, information landscape.

Last month the ALSC issued a wonderful list of "exceptional" web sites for children.  These resources (which are free to use) can really help to supplement certain areas of your collection that might be lacking.  There are tons of great language resources that your patrons might find interesting, and some really unique games too.
