What do children's librarians think about multimodal texts like The 39 Clues series, SpaceHeadz, and Invisible I: The Amanda Project? Each of these books connects readers to a website where they can continue to interact with the story outside the pages of the book. These websites offer opportunities for kids to join communities, play games, and creatively continue the story contained in the book. The ACLA catalog indicates that several libraries in the county have copies of these books. So I’m wondering… Are they popular with kids in your library? Is this the future of children’s book publishing? And do these kinds of books require different library services?
