After a summer full of reading, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Woods Run rewarded their kids’ hard work the only way that seemed fitting: with a big outdoor party!
Magician TJ Hill got the Finale Party started with some mind-blowing illusions like making orange balls appear out of thin air, making a smashed banana disappear, and levitating a girl that he had “put to sleep.”
Not only did an increase in SRC numbers earn the kids of Woods Run a nacho party from Moe’s Southwest Grill, but donations from Mandy’s Pizza, McDonald’s, and Whole Foods Market meant that there was a real feast on hand! Kids enjoyed tacos, nachos, ice cream cones, and pizza in between playing beach volleyball and making crafts.
The kids worked to earn their pizza by filling a giant Reading Pizza with stickers that represented each title they read. By the end of the summer, that number was 2,648!
Volunteers were on hand to paint faces and apply temporary tattoos.

Despite the heat, everyone had a great time and can’t wait for the next occasion to party at the library!
