Each summer, the Pittsburgh Pirates, CLP and ACLA join forces to create a unique reading incentive program that fits nicely alongside our larger SRC. While most libraries participate, there are still plenty of you who don't. Why oh why? It's a really easy-to-run program with great rewards for kids who read. Here's what's involved:
children, ages 6-12 can participate
after each book read, the child fills out a very simple form (available for download on the Youth Services wiki) and submits it to the library. There is no limit to the entry forms
from the submittedforms, the library randomly chooses 6 children who each receive 2 tickets to a Pirates Game and a special storytime with a Pirates celebrity and Pirates Parrot @ PNC Park on September 19th, 2010
and this year, to encourage more libraries to participate, every library taking part in Pirates Tales will be entered into a drawing to host the Pirate Parrot at a program this fall and a 2nd library will win a Pirates Prize Pack!
If you'd like to participate, head over to the wiki and enter your library and contact name. The deadline is May 15th.
