Teen Read Week: October 19-23

Calling all teens!!  October 19-23 has been named as Teen Read Week by the YALSA, and their theme for this year is "Read Beyond Reality!" Their website is full of great programing ideas and resources to help you plan a Teen Read Week bash for your own library!  Some exciting happenings you won't want to miss:
  • readergirlz.com, an online book community for teen girls, will be having a chat session with 9 different young adult others on their blog site throughout the week.  Each day different authors will be featured, and readers will be able to ask the authors questions about their books and lives as writers!  Here is a trailer for their program.
  • Wrestle Mania Reading Challenge: Goal is to encourage teens to read and discover new books beyond Teen Read Week by including incentives from the WWE. How about that as a hook to get boys into your library?  Registration is closed for this year, but you can still tell teens about the program and plan for next year.
  • Download-able audio PSAs announcing Teen Read Week, performed by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson!
So get all your teens into the library and have a blast!
