Rock Flipping Day!! September 20th

We all remember the times when we were children and would go out moving rocks and stones, just to see the worms slither around and the bugs skitter away. Who knew that a whole day has been dedicated to doing just that?!

Began by Dave Bonta and Bev Wigney in 2007, Rock Flipping Day reminds us how much we enjoyed discovering more about the great outdoors. They have people of all ages flipping rocks all over the world, photographing their findings, and then blogging and uploading photos onto Flickr. Find out more on their website.

Be sure to encourage your library patrons to flip some rocks on Sunday, and remind them to come in and use the libraries resources if they need help discovering what exactly they found under all those rocks!
